Who am I and how can I help?
Online Pluralistic Counsellor| Sexual Trauma Specialist for Men aged 18-30
My name is Alan. I am an online sexual trauma therapist (an accredited registrant of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) based in Greater Manchester who works with male survivors of abuse, aged 18-30 years old, across the whole of the United Kingdom.
You're probably on my website because you're tired, you've had enough of trying to fight this alone and you've realised that you can't think your way out of the trauma - this is exactly where I come in.
Therapy with me isn't just "Me and You", it is "Me + You vs The Problem". Collaboration matters to me, you are the expert in you and your story, and I am the expert in therapy - you bring what you need to bring, and we will use my expertise together to help you process your trauma.
I use a range of different tools and techniques from different types of therapy to give you therapy that is personalised to you, including the flash technique, which offers you the opportunity to painlessly and rapidly process traumatic memories.

Therapy can help with

Hypervigilance
Are you tired of always feeling switched on "just in case"? Alan helps men re-teach their nervous system that it no longer needs to be in survival mode.
Shame
The abuse was NEVER your fault, but there is still that niggling part of you that tells you that it could be, or even that it just was your fault. What if you found a way to tame your shame? Alan helps men to tame their shame, and harness it.

Self-harm and Suicidal Ideation support
Alan brings a neurobiological understanding of self-harm and suicide to the table, offering men the opportunity to understand what makes suicidal ideation occur, and support men in their pursuit of finding a life worth living.
Flashbacks and nightmares
These responses occur for a reason. Alan helps men overcome their flashbacks and nightmares; helping them live life with minimal intrusion from the past.
Trauma-related relationship difficulties
Sexual Trauma skews our sense of safety in relationships, and for good reason. If you learned that people aren't safe, why would you want to risk putting yourself at risk of intimacy? Alan has a track record of supporting male survivors of sexual harm improve their relationships through trauma processing.
Are you sick of feeling like there is something wrong with you? Alan truly believes that trauma responses are not an indicator of "having something wrong" with you, and acknowledges that they are normal responses to abnormal events because the human response to inhumane treatment is not an abnormal condition.
